Barcelona, 5 March 2025 – Talent Arena, the premier event dedicated to digital talent, successfully concluded its inaugural edition, reinforcing the vital role of digital professionals in the tech industry. Organized by Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital), the event coincided with MWC Barcelona and solidified the city’s status as a global technology hub.

From March 3 to 5, over 20,000 developers from 115 countries gathered at Fira Montjuïc, with 53% being senior professionals from more than 1,500 companies. Talent Arena emerged as a key industry platform, offering attendees opportunities to connect with leading tech firms, participate in hackathons and workshops, and engage in 223 sessions led by global technology visionaries.

Exploring the Future of Tech

The three-day event focused on cutting-edge technological advancements, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and NewSpace. Discussions also addressed Europe’s technological sovereignty, the rise of generative AI, and strategies for attracting and retaining digital talent in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Francesc Fajula, CEO of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The first edition of Talent Arena highlights the essential role of digital professionals in shaping the technologies that are transforming the world. It also brings attention to the challenge of talent generation required to sustain the ICT sector’s growth, which is synonymous with innovation, expansion, and competitiveness.”

A Star-Studded Line-Up

Talent Arena 2025 featured an impressive roster of speakers, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, AI pioneer Cassie Kozyrkov, and chess grandmaster and AI thought leader Garry Kasparov. Other notable participants included Sarah Novotny, an expert in collaborative communities, and Lauren Lyons, a NewSpace specialist. The event also placed a strong emphasis on female leadership, with 40% of the speakers being women leading groundbreaking initiatives in the tech industry.

Additionally, top Spanish professionals from global institutions participated, including Xavier Amatriain, Vice President of Product at Google; Pilar Manchón, Director of Engineering at Google; and Antonio Torralba, Head of the AI Faculty at MIT.

Major Highlights and Innovations

One of the standout events was the GSMA Open Gateway Hackathon, a landmark initiative for telecom operators where over 100 international developers tackled real-world technological challenges using live data from major telecom providers. Meanwhile, the GSMA Open Gateway DevCon brought together top industry players such as Nokia, TikTok, China Telecom, and Elmo to explore network API-based services and share best practices.

Talent Arena’s programme also included 45 workshops on emerging tech trends and mentorship sessions with over 50 industry experts, providing developers with insights into evolving career opportunities.

Looking Ahead: Talent Arena 2026

Following the success of its first edition, MWCapital has announced that Talent Arena 2026 will take place from 2 to 4 March at Fira Montjuïc. With an expanded scope and the integration of Fira Gran Via, the event aims to strengthen its position as Europe’s leading digital talent gathering and further enhance Barcelona’s role as a hub for digital professionals.

Talent Arena is Europe’s premier event dedicated to digital talent, organized by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and co-located with MWC Barcelona. It serves as a hub for learning, networking, and professional growth, bringing together digital professionals, top tech companies, and educational institutions. Supported by the GSMA, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Barcelona City Council, Talent Arena is backed by Caixa Bank as the main partner, Schneider Electric and Seidor as event sponsors, Salesforce as a supporting sponsor, and Eurofirms as the HR sponsor. The event plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of technology talent in Europe.
