Trinasolar, a global leader in smart PV and energy storage solutions, has announced its collaboration with AMEA Power and Energy China ZTPC to deploy a groundbreaking 300MWh Elementa 2 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Abydos Solar PV Project in Aswan, Egypt. This project, Africa’s largest solar PV initiative, marks Egypt’s first integration of utility-scale energy storage, paving the way for enhanced grid resilience and renewable energy adoption.

Developed by AMEA Power, the Abydos project expands the existing 500MW solar power plant in Kom Ombo, Aswan, by incorporating advanced energy storage technology. The integration of Trinasolar’s Elementa 2 platform, equipped with innovative LFP cell technology, smart liquid cooling, and robust safety features, underscores Egypt’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The project was inaugurated by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat. Trinasolar’s Vincent Wu highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “Abydos represents a milestone in North Africa’s renewable energy journey, exemplifying Trinasolar’s dedication to innovation and sustainability.”

AMEA Power Chairman Hussain Al Nowais emphasized the collaboration’s impact on Egypt’s energy landscape, while Energy China ZTPC’s Vice President Zhang Dan affirmed the project’s role in advancing regional energy transition efforts.

By combining renewable generation with cutting-edge storage, the Abydos project sets a benchmark for future energy initiatives in North Africa, enhancing grid stability and accelerating the shift toward a sustainable energy future.
