23 Aug 2024, New Delhi ( PIB): In a significant move to enhance employment opportunities and align with global demands, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flipkart’s Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA). This partnership, announced at the Flipkart Samarth event, aims to upskill thousands of young individuals across India, preparing them for careers in e-commerce and supply chain management.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSDE and Minister of State for Education, highlighted the government’s commitment to skilling youth in line with the vision for a Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized that the collaboration with Flipkart’s SCOA reflects the government’s focus on integrating traditional crafts with modern digital platforms. This initiative supports the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, offering a comprehensive training program that includes seven days of classroom instruction followed by 45 days of hands-on experience at Flipkart’s facilities.

“The Government of India remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering artisans and promoting our diverse crafts. The MoU with Flipkart’s SCOA marks a crucial step in equipping our youth with essential skills for the evolving job market,” said Shri Chaudhary. “By merging traditional skills with modern technology, we are fostering innovation and supporting the growth of India’s MSME sector.”

The partnership also emphasizes the importance of industry collaboration in skilling initiatives. Through the Samarth program, which focuses on logistics, warehousing, and related sectors, the collaboration is expected to make a substantial impact on the nation’s economic growth. Flipkart, a key player in the e-commerce sector, has already positively influenced 1.8 million livelihoods by empowering women entrepreneurs and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
