India MSME Report 2024, by ISED Small Enterprise Observatory, is India’s only comprehensive MSME reference document. It explores technology, finance, solopreneurship, and the Vision MSME 2047 roadmap, while analyzing entrepreneurship trends, labor markets, and MSME linkages. Positioned as a strategic tool for economic growth, the report highlights MSMEs as engines of economic resilience, delivering key insights to empower policy and business leaders.

The 27th Edition of ISED’s India MSME Report Highlights Opportunities, Challenges, and Vision MSME 2047

Kochi, December 3, 2024 – The Institute of Small Enterprises and Development (ISED) successfully launched the India Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Report 2024 at a high-profile event held at The Renai Cochin. This 27th edition of the flagship report, prepared by the ISED Small Enterprise Observatory, continues to provide critical insights into India’s MSME sector.

The launch event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and thought experts to deliberate on the emerging challenges and opportunities in the MSME ecosystem. A panel discussion on “India 2024–2047: The Future of MSMEs, Entrepreneurship, Education & Jobs” was a key highlight, focusing on MSME growth, technology start-ups, and labor market dynamics.

The India MSME Report 2024 explores twelve focal themes, including India’s New MSME Agenda, Global SME & Entrepreneurship Trends, Technology Start-Ups, MSME Ecology & Linkage Effects, Outward Orientation & Opportunities, and the Vision MSME 2047. Notably, the report underscores the rise of solopreneurship and emerging financial trends impacting the sector.

Speaking at the release, Dr. P.M. Mathew, Director of ISED, highlighted the pivotal role of MSMEs as “engines of growth” and emphasized the need for continued support from government, financial institutions, and industry associations to sustain their momentum in an increasingly competitive global economy.

Endorsed for its comprehensive research and actionable insights, the report has been described as a “tool for informed decision-making and policy formulation” by stakeholders. It also addresses regional and national trends with an evidence-based approach, serving as a reference for policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

The India MSME Report Series, initiated in 1997, has evolved into a trusted knowledge resource, widely cited by governments, academia, and financial institutions. This year’s report reflects on MSMEs’ resilience and adaptability while mapping their potential to contribute to India’s economic vision for 2047.

The event concluded with stakeholders expressing optimism about the sector’s capacity for innovation, job creation, and inclusive economic growth.
