Abu Dhabi, UAE – December 5, 2024: In a pioneering move to accelerate sustainability efforts across Abu Dhabi’s business landscape, Solutions+, a Mubadala company, has announced the launch of Project Decarb 2.0. This ambitious initiative is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their decarbonization efforts, aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 goals. Starting in early 2025, eligible SMEs will gain access to subsidized services covering up to 75% of the cost of carbon emissions assessments, energy audits, and sustainable procurement strategies.

Driving Sustainability for SMEs
Backed by the Mubadala Foundation, Project Decarb 2.0 extends Solutions+’ expertise to empower SMEs in reducing their carbon footprint while unlocking operational efficiencies. The program builds on the success of its predecessor, which helped 16 UAE companies within the Mubadala portfolio implement cost-saving and emission-reducing strategies in 2023. This expansion to the wider SME ecosystem marks a strategic step toward integrating sustainability into the core of Abu Dhabi’s private sector.

Solutions+ will provide SMEs with tailored support to identify carbon emissions hotspots, optimize energy use, and adopt sustainable procurement practices. These measures aim to make sustainability a financially viable and strategically advantageous choice for businesses, fostering long-term value and competitiveness.

Expert Voices Highlight the Initiative’s Impact
“At Solutions+, we believe in enabling SMEs to take meaningful strides toward sustainability,” said Nasir Al Nabhani, Managing Director at Solutions+. “This initiative not only strengthens Abu Dhabi’s SME ecosystem but also enhances the UAE’s global leadership in climate action.”

From the Mubadala Foundation, Mansour Al Ketbi, Deputy Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer, added, “Building a low-carbon future requires scalable, practical solutions that are accessible to businesses of all sizes. Through our partnership with Solutions+, we’re integrating decarbonization into the heart of Abu Dhabi’s SME strategies, creating opportunities for resilience and value in a changing economy.”
Project Decarb 2.0 will roll out its subsidized services in early 2025, inviting SMEs across Abu Dhabi to apply via the Solutions+ website. The selection process will focus on businesses with the potential for significant, measurable impact in reducing emissions

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future, reinforcing the role of SMEs as vital contributors to the nation’s net zero ambitions. By fostering innovation and practical solutions, Project Decarb 2.0 not only accelerates environmental progress but also ensures that SMEs remain resilient and competitive in a global economy increasingly driven by sustainability.
