Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – November 26, 2024: The doors to Black Hat Middle East and Africa (MEA) 2024, the world’s fastest-growing cybersecurity event, opened today at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham. This year’s edition, running until November 28, marks a historic milestone as the largest cybersecurity gathering in the region, featuring a 51% increase in size from last year.

Spanning 53,000 square meters, the event is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors, including 330 speakers from 150 nations, 450 global brands, and 30 innovative cybersecurity startups. With six national pavilions from countries including the USA, Canada, India, and Turkey, Black Hat MEA is solidifying Riyadh’s position as a global hub for cybersecurity innovation.

Industry Titans Share Key Insights at Executive Summit
The Executive Summit, a highlight of the event, convened over 100 CISOs and senior executives from top organizations such as Motorola, Bayer, Panasonic, and SoftBank Investment Advisors. Global thought leaders, including Lori Wade, Chief Data Officer of the US Intelligence Community, and Dr. Kevin Jones, Global CISO of Bayer, delivered insights on critical topics such as infrastructure security, ethical hacking, and the integration of AI in cybersecurity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Faisal Al-Khamisi, Chairman of the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones (SAFCSP), emphasized the alignment of Black Hat MEA with Saudi Vision 2030, saying, “This event exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s ambition to lead in the cybersecurity sector while fostering global collaboration and innovation.”

Cutting-Edge Features and Competitions
The Cyberseed Startup Competition has already captivated attention as eight startups present groundbreaking solutions to a panel of global investors and decision-makers, competing for a $30,000 prize and the title of Cybersecurity Champion 2024. Additionally, the Capture the Flag tournament, one of the largest ever in the GCC, is hosting more than 1,000 participants in a high-stakes challenge.

Interactive experiences, including 11 hacking zones focusing on sectors such as smart homes and aviation, are drawing significant participation. This year’s campus space has seen a 75% increase in content, with new closed-door workshops bridging academic learning with real-world application, empowering emerging cybersecurity talent.

Riyadh: The Emerging Cybersecurity Capital
Annabelle Mander, Senior Vice President at Tahaluf, highlighted the event’s importance: “Black Hat MEA 2024 offers a unique platform for global collaboration, addressing the most pressing challenges in cybersecurity and showcasing innovations in AI, quantum computing, and cryptography.”

The event features over 450 exhibitors, including global giants like Cisco, Google Cloud, and Darktrace, with 240 exhibitors making their debut. Saudi Arabia’s strategic investments in cybersecurity and technology further underscore its emergence as a leading player in the global cybersecurity landscape.

Driving Economic Growth and International Collaboration
With pre-registrations up 16% from last year, Black Hat MEA 2024 is expected to set a new attendance record. The event not only strengthens Riyadh’s position as a global cybersecurity hub but also drives significant economic impact through business tourism and international partnerships.

As the event progresses, industry professionals, government leaders, and tech innovators are engaging in hands-on training, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities, setting the stage for a future shaped by cutting-edge cybersecurity advancements.
